The has DOS announced that through the end of this year, consular officers are authorized to expand categories of F, M, and academic J visa applications that can be examined without an in-person interview. Consulate websites will provide details on country eligibility and procedures as they are implemented. This is welcomed news to many of our clients as consular processing has become extremely difficult in the age of Covid. As things move towards normal, we will see consular processing opening up more and more to deal with he major backlog that has been created as part of shutdowns and limited consular Appointments. With students soon to be excluded form in person interviews in certain cases we should see movement for others immigration categories as well.
